Paid Caregiver Program

We understand that due to staffing shortages, your family may not be getting the Personal Care Aide (PCA) services you need. To help solve this problem, HSCSN has a new Paid Caregiver Program. This program helps find a caregiver, someone your child knows, who can be trained as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) to provide care for your child. HSCSN will cover the costs of the training, the time during the training, certification, and transportation to the training. We will also help the HHA connect with a Home Care Agency for employment as a PCA. HSCSN will support the training of one PCA per enrollee.

To become a Paid Caregiver, the person must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a High School diploma
  • Not be parent or legal guardian
  • Commit to work as PCA to assigned enrollee at least 20 hours/week
  • Pass a criminal background check and health screening
  • Complete the 6-week Home Health Aide Training Program
  • Pass the Home Health Aide Certification Exam and receive CNA certification from Department of Health
  • Work with an HSCSN-approved Home Care Agency and comply with the Agency requirements
  • Maintain CNA certification for full duration of approved services
  • Agree to provide care to enrollee for a minimum of 12 months
