Male Caregivers Advocacy Support Group (MCAS)- Early Stages Special Education Services
This event is open to the public

Zoom Meeting
Reaching the age of 18 is an exciting time for youth and their families. It is also a time when many questions arise around legal responsibilities for young adults with disabilities and needs for continuing support with decision-making. Families need information to think through questions about options for continuing support for a young adult in making critical life decisions around issues such as education, school-to-adult transition, health care, and finances. This presentation will discuss the options available for support from the least to most restrictive options - including a discussion of Supported Decision-Making, which was recently formally recognized in DC law.
Your voices are important! The Male Caregivers Advocacy Support Group (MCAS) is made up of fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles, male cousins, and other men who care about children with special health care needs.
MCAS offers you a safe place to give and receive the emotional support that you need as you care for a child with special health care needs. During MCAS meetings, you’ll share information, provide support and take part in trainings that empower you in your role as a caregiver.
